If you’ve had enough of feeling stuck and pessimistic about where you are in life, I can help you get beyond those feelings of discomfort and find your way to a a greater sense of joy, fulfillment and inner calm.  I use the creative and expressive arts (e.g. story, drawing, playdoh, movement, sand play, writing, masks), stillness and reflection to help my clients explore and make sense of their inner world. You do not need any artistic skills to engage in this form of therapy; creativity is something we all have – personal and unique.

Research has shown that people who regularly engage with their creativity benefit from a more positive state of mind. But, more importantly, the therapeutic use of the expressive arts enables clients to access the unconscious mind where lost and neglected resources, strengths and impulses are held. Each client is different and unique but generally my approach will help you:

  • have the space and confidence to explore who you are and how you relate to yourself and your external world

  • find, acknowledge and honour your ‘hidden gold’, i.e. those strengths and personal qualities that may have been lost or neglected over your lifetime

  • discover and take joy from the fullness of who you are 

  • rest easy with yourself

  • restore your trust in yourself and your decisions

  • balance your emotions

I understand that the prospect of having therapy might be difficult for you. You may think it indicates that you have a mental health problem or that somehow you’re not clever enough to sort out your own life. I see it differently. I started having therapy nearly 20 years ago, at a time when I’d reached a point where I felt life simply couldn’t go on as it was. I needed to stop feeling all knotted up inside.

I came to realise that being able to explore who I was with the support of someone that I trusted was both powerful and liberating. I learnt that there was so much more to me than I knew before. I wasn’t trapped any longer by who I’d always believed myself to be – some of which I had liked, and some of which, quite frankly, I hadn’t! Therapy takes you on a journey to discover the lost and neglected parts of yourself, which then allows you to experience the fullness of who you are.
